Terra da Luz brings together contemporary ceramic artists and designers whose works explore clay as a language of earth, gesture, and transformation.
Presented in the luminous landscape of Comporta, the exhibition moves between vessel and sculpture, object and archetype, function and ritual. Glazed and unglazed surfaces, wall works, furniture pieces, and sculptural forms create a tactile dialogue with the surrounding landscape — its sand, salt, rice fields, whitewashed architecture, and slow summer light.
At once ancient and contemporary, clay carries the memory of touch. It records pressure, fire, time, and intention. In Terra da Luz, ceramics become more than objects: they become fragments of landscape, vessels of memory, and quiet studies in material presence.
The exhibition unfolds as a celebration of clay, craft, and the enduring poetry of forms shaped by hand. Within the atmosphere of Comporta, each work enters into conversation with light, architecture, and landscape, inviting a slower and more contemplative encounter with material.
Organised and curated by Irina Gordienko, founder of THE CURATED Lisbon, and Shanna Cancio-Martins, Terra de Luz continues THE CURATED Lisbon’s ongoing exploration of contemporary art, collectible design, craft, and cultural experiences in Portugal.
